چکیده

Cerebellar influence on the oculomotor evoked potential was investigated. Bilateral decerebration was performed in 25 adult cats by thalamocollicular section under chloralose anesthesia. The evoked potential in the oculomotor nucleus by the electrical stimulation of the isolated medial rectus nerve was inhibited by the repeated electrical stimulation of a restricted area of the cerebellar cortex, and increased in amplitude as a rebound phenomenon after cessation of the cerebellar stimulation. The second wave of complex potential which was incidentally evoked in the oculomotor nucleus, depending upon the position of the recording electrode by the inferior oblique nerve stimulation, ivas either inhibited or facilitated by repeated cerebellar stimulation, depending upon the stimulated cerebellar region. These cerebellar effects on the oculomotor evoked potential were most prominent at the area adjacent to the primary fissure in Lobule VI.

Midbrain electrical fields produced by stimulation of the muscle branches of the oculomotor nerve.

Evoked potentials were recorded from the oculomotor nucleus in decerebrate cats following electrical stimulation of individual muscle branches of the oculomotor nerve. These potentials were usually triphasic but other more complex potentials were evoked depending on the positions of the recording electrode. Equipotential contour maps of the evoked electrical fields were plotted at different tim...

Midbrain evoked potential produced by stimulation of the muscle branch of the oculomotor nerve.

Evoked potential was recorded by needle electrode from the oculomotor nucleus in decerebrate cats, following electrical stimulation of the inferior oblique nerve. The evoked potential was usually triphasic, but complex potential with the second and third negative leaves, or with long latency negative waves, was incidentally recorded depending upon the position of the recording electrode. In the...

A Rare Presentation of Isolated Oculomotor Nerve Palsy due to Multiple Sclerosis in a Child

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory, demyelinating, neurodegenerative disorder of the central nervous system (CNS) of unknown etiology. Isolated oculomotor nerve palsy is found rarely in children with MS. We present a case of MS in 10-year-old boy, who had bilateral ptosis associated with medial gaze restriction. The extraocular muscle examination demonstrated bilateral adduction pa...

Location of the cell bodies of the superior rectus and inferior oblique motoneurons in the cat.

Stimulation of the inferior oblique and superior rectus branches and of the whole oculomotor nerve was carried out in cats while recording either gross or unit activity within the region of the oculomotor nucleus. On the basis of a number of criteria, unit responses were selected to represent antidromic activation of cell bodies in that nucleus. For the superior rectus, these were found to be l...

Oculomotor rehabilitation in children with dyslexia

Background: Dyslexia is the most common learning disorder. Visual and oculomotor deficits in dyslexic children have been reported. The purpose of this study was to measure oculomotor parameters and analyze the effect of oculomotor rehabilitation strategies on dyslexia. Methods: Binocular eye movements were recorded by oculomotor subtype of videonystagmography (VNG) testing on 30 children with ...
